Our factory in Portugal
Portugal has a long history in the textile industry and craftsmanship. This history, together with advanced technology and education on the field, makes Portugal one of the leading European textile producers. The strong presence of the industry in the area was one of the main reasons to choose Portugal as home for our production and the factory.
Cottonhouse is situated in the town of Ponte de Lima, in the northern Portugal and has 42 workers at present, working in a 1 200 square meter facility, under the administration of Riikka Keski-Vähälä. Our factory specializes in the sewing of knitted adults’ and children’s clothing.
Our own European production and the Öko-tex certification guarantee that the article is safe to the final consumer. Öko-tex can only be used if the whole production process is certified. A safe, clean, ecological and ethic manufacture, the people and the quality are our focus.
Because we have our own production, we can have a fast contact with the suppliers involved in the production chain, such as dye houses, printing companies and other facilities.
We want to answer the growing need of the consumer to know where and how their clothes were made and, consequently, we want to tell the story behind our articles.
